A Review of Sakura Gamer - Yuri Adventures in Game Development
By Kasaix • 6 years ago

The great minds at Nutaku bring forth a great visual novel by none other than Winged Cloud, the developers behind the great 'Sakura' series of visual novels. This newest entry is Sakura Gamer. Like with any other Sakura game in the series, you can expect cute girls doing cute and lewd things. This entry has only female characters, so expect yuri in this game with multiple endings and CGs to unlock.

As this is a visual novel, don't expect anything more arduous than choosing one of multiple
options as you progress through the story. There is a handy save function you can use so you don't have to backtrack too much as you make your choices. This is one of the game where you can calmly read and enjoy without worrying too much about missing something.

Winged Cloud is known for making varied games with cute girls, and this is a worthy entry into the series. From visual novels to clicking marathons, and even a very good RPG dungeon crawler, Winged Cloud has an extensive library to enjoy. We here are Doujins are still waiting for Sakura Fantasy chapter 2, but that's neither here nor there.

Nekohime                                              Clover                                                    Suki

Sakura Gamer follows the story of the megane-girl Nekohime, whose real name is Sayo, at a low point in her life. Her low self-esteem and confidence has caused her to give up on her dreams of developing video games and taking a job fixing broken computers. Her friend with the crop top and big bust Clover refuses to accept this and introduces her to Suki, a shrine maiden unlike any other with a loud and pushy personality with a penchant for seducing cute girls, just the sort of girl Nekohime needs to reach for her dreams, and refuses to accept 'no' for an answer. She's also an incredibly talented digital artist, a key asset in any game development process, and may need Nekohime and Clover to model for some pictures.

There's a trope in the eroge genre: the only plot required to enjoy the game should be the girl's chest. Clearly Winged Cloud vehemently disagrees. Sakura Gamer has a great story with likeable characters. They're fleshed out and fun to follow through the story. A great story to go along with great visuals and interesting choices is rare in an eroge, but Winged Cloud manages to pull it off and Nutaku has quite a few of them in store for fans of the game style, especially eroge.

We here at Doujins could not recommend this game more. Cute girls doing cute and lewd things while finding love and working to achieve their dreams of gaming. There's also plenty of yuri to find in the game. It doesn't start right away, you work towards it, which makes it that much more fun and enjoyable when it finally appears.

Nutaku asked us to take a look at Sakura Gamer, and here's our opinion.
