An Interview with Gmeen
By Kasaix • 4 years ago

Kasaix: Hello Doujin Army! I’m here with another truly talented artist, the one and only Gmeen! His work is really good. Plenty of thicc girls around that are having a really good time. The style is more on the exaggerated style, but that’s what makes it so good.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Thanks for taking the time to hang out. How’s it going, Gmeen?

Gmeen: Hi! Thanks for having me.

Everything's fine. Thank you.

Kasaix: It’s my pleasure. I know we’re cutting it late for you, so I appreciate you staying late. Let’s start at the top, could you tell me how you first got into art?

Gmeen: I always liked drawing. I drew a lot of dinosaurs when i was a kid.

As for adult art... Back in the 90's there was no internet.

Hentai wasn't really accessible. I don't even know hentai was.

I was a teenager and there was this "humor" magazine called MORBID.

It was kinda popular amongst teenagers. Anyway... It was filled with rather nasty adult comic strips. But it was "edgy".

But they had an artist called Geek. And he was really good. A bit sloppy with the lines, but i liked his art. So i tried adult art.

At the time thought i'm pretty good at it... Boy i was wrong.

Kasaix: You’re an amazing artist now though. I certainly love your work. Did you take art classes, or are you a self-taught artist?

Gmeen: Self-thought. I learned mostly by my mistakes.

... Still learning.

Kasaix: That’s amazing, you’re this good just on your own. Learning from our mistakes just makes them different lessons to learn. They’re not mistakes if you learn from them after all.

What are your favorite characters and themes to draw?

Gmeen: Thank you. But i am really not that amazing.

There are a lot of characters i like... Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Amazon from Dragon's Crown. Taimanin Asagi... I'm a sucker for the Taimanin universe. I like to do things bit of  hardrdcore. Because it's more over the top and fun.

Kasaix: Yeah, your style is exaggerated, but that’s what I like. Everything is turned up to 11, either the girls themselves are thicc, or the situations are out there. I like it.

Do you have any original characters?

Gmeen: Yeah i have six of them.

Lili the catgirl was my first one. She was based on Pink from Dragon Pink. Tal the 200 years old incubus who suspiciously resemble a shota.

Violet the dark skinned thicc girl (based on the the pornstar Cherokee d'ass). Sapphire the milf succubus (Tal's mom) Based on Ingrid from Makai Kishi Ingrid. Zinya a half dragon futa girl (don't use her much lately). And Stripes the zebra... A full on furry character (don't judge me)

Kasaix: Haha, no judgement from us. Nice characters though. I’ve seen a few, and I like them. Do you have backstories for them?

Gmeen: Well... Not really. Lili and Tal are kinda in relationship. It was the stick for a bit that Lili was always angry and jealous of Tal. Violet is a stripper living in Miami. Her stick was that she likes to drink midori. You can see the glass in her hand on some older pic. Sapphire was originally Queen Sapphire. Stripes is a furry.

Kasaix: “Stripes is a furry.” is the best background possible. Short and to the point.

Where do you get the inspiration for all your projects?

Gmeen: Mostly it just came to me... Sometimes i like to attach a little joke too. As for the animations... It's definitely Teruaki Murakami's work.

Especially his style of fellatio. My Amazon BJ animation is pretty much a Murakami ripoff. Or at least it tries to be.

Kasaix: You’re learning from a pro, that’s the way to go about learning.

How long does it typically take you to finish an art project?

Gmeen: That depends on the pic itself. I do everything in my free time.

Mostly i work on a project for 1-2 hours a day. Sometimes i can't or don't want to. It would take from 2 days up to a week.

Kasaix: Yeah, I get ‘can’t or don’t want to’. I procrastinate a lot.

What do you feel is your best picture yet, and why?

Gmeen: The most successful one is probably my Wonder Woman pic. It reached no 1. most popular pic on HF for a bit. But it's not my favorite.

Kasaix: Yeah, I saw that one. Nice job getting top spot. What’s your favorite pic then?

Gmeen: That's a hard one... I don't really have one.

Maybe the ps1 Spyro & Elora pic

I just love her face on that one.

Kasaix: Nice. I still remember the ending of that game that showed Elora trying to kiss Spyro, and he had no idea.

Is there a project you'd really like to work on in the future?

Gmeen: Yes. I'd like to use one of my characters in a longer animation.

Kasaix: I look forward to seeing those.

What setup do you use to draw?

Gmeen: I'm using a Genius MousePen GT-100006 pad. Nothing fancy stuff.

I do my sketches in ms paint. (don't know why)

Everything else is Photoshop.

Kasaix: Nice setup.

Where does your username come from?

Gmeen: I was afraid of this one...

Back than when i started uploading "art" on Gelbooru and Rule 34.

My art was really bad. I didn't realise back then but looking back now i can understand all the bad criticism. All of my work get pummeled to the ground. One of my pic score was -30. And the comments... Yikes.

I felt really bad, to the point i actually gave up art. My original name was Green on my pic but the R looked kinda like an M. My artist name wasn't tagged on any  on my pic, and there was a guy who actually tagged me as Gmeen... Cause he thought the r was an m. He actually asked me about it. But i was really on a low point and actually didn't cared about it. I was like... Yeah whatever man... It's Gmeen.

So i kept it. Honestly... I kinda hate it... If i could change it to something cool like... Neon Raven (raven is actually in my real name) or something... But now it's too late. Guess i'll be Gmeen forever.

Kasaix: Hahah! That’s actually pretty funny. It’s a unique name though, and you’ve improved a lot since then. I’m glad you shared that.

Let’s wrap it up here for now. Do you have any final words to all your fans?

Gmeen: Yeah... Thank you guys for everything. All the kind words and even the bad ones. I wouldn't answer these questions without you guys. I'm really blessed with all of you. Thank Kasaix for the interview.

Thank you.
