An Interview with Supersatanson
By Kasaix • 4 years ago

Kasaix: Hello Doujin Army! I’m here with another truly talented artist, the one and only Supersatanson! I’ve been following his work for quite some time, and finally decided to reach out for an interview. To my delight, he accepted! His work is amazing. The girls are all cute and sexy, and they come with cool powerup items.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Thanks for taking the time to hang out. How’s it going, Supersatanson?

Supersatanson:  Doing fine, thanks! Really appreciate you taking the time for this interview, specially for your patience with me. I’m very flattered to know my work reaches so many people.

Kasaix: Let’s start at the top, could you tell me how you first got into art?

Supersatanson: Well, I’ve been drawing since I have memory. I used to draw mostly black&white cartoon comics, and then went into manga style. It was all mostly for myself though, Internet wasn’t a thing when I was a kid! Eventually, as I finished college and started working, I decided to start trying drawing hentai commissions to get a little more income, and that eventually became my main job. Hooray!

Kasaix: Did you go to an art school, or are you all self taught?

Supersatanson: I started drawing and learning way before college, so I’d say self taught. I did study Graphic Design though, and went to art clubs on high school; but I’d say I learned the most after starting drawing to survive. I had to seek improvement faster and more efficiently, and it has been great learning, even if a bit disjointed.

Kasaix: What are your favorite characters and themes to draw?

Supersatanson: Nintendo characters, by far. I just really like simple designs and vibrant colors, which give characters a very strong, iconic look. Best examples are of course Mario Princesses, but also Pokemon Trainers, which always end up being some of my favorite drawings, for some reason. They’re just so friendly to draw or something.

I’d say other characters with stylized / colorful designs are my favorite too, best example are Wayforward (the company behind Shantae and others) roster of cute girls.

Kasaix: What do you feel is your best picture yet, and why?

Supersatanson: That’s a very tough question. I’m still learning of course , and so with every drawing I feel like I do a bit better than the previous one (in most cases), so the title of  “best picture” would probably change every month. Instead of that, I could mention my “Most Important” drawing of the year! It’s the Atelier/Gardevoir mash-up from some weeks ago. One of the very few drawings I made just for myself and not from work, votes or suggestions, but also, a turning point on my drawing speed! I was able to finish that one in just 90 minutes, thanks to a perfect state of mind. Now I can draw faster thanks to that, so I consider it a level-up moment.

Kasaix: Where do you get the inspiration for your projects from?

Supersatanson: I have two big inspirations from when I started: One is Playshapes’ “Peach’s untold Tale”, a famous henti flash game from like a decade ago, starring of course princess peach. The other is Minus8’s work, specially the dancing Shy-Gals. I think that piece in particular is what motivated me to go into character mash-ups, sexy versions of baddies, and the general sexy pinup thing.

Kasaix: One of your promenant, and very interesting, themes in your work are the power-up items. The Booboom Milk, Thicc Shake, Cupid’s Arrow, and so on. There’s even a Halloween-themed item Sexy Bulb Pumpkin. How many items are there in total, and where did you get the inspiration for them from?

Supersatanson: My main theme is videogames, specially Super Mario Bros, and that’s where I got the Powerups idea from, although those kind of items exist on every game. I think it’s a good device to justify drawing everything with giant boobs or ass, also it’s magical so there’s no place for “their poor spines” :P . I think there’s around 30 Sexy Powerups now, I’m in the process of redrawing all of them (the originals are like, 6 years old?), so the folder is a bit of a mess.

Kasaix: Which is your favorite sexy power-up item, and why?

Supersatanson: I think Mooshroom is one of the most fun to draw, although I sometimes forget to add the tail, haha. For some reason, the color combinations and the bell collar are very cute to me. I’d like to see more 100Year Stardust used though, that powerup is basically a Gijinka maker. It’s a good challenge.

Kasaix: How long does it typically take you to finish a project?

Supersatanson: As I mentioned above, Atelier Gardevoir has been one of the fastest finished drawings I’ve made, without losing quality. Before that, I think my best time was around 4 hours, so with all the job management and social media stuff (updating patreon, answering mails/comments, preparing and uploading pics, project planning, other graphics), I could finish one drawing in a single day, if there’s no interruptions and everything works OK. It usually doesn’t though, so it can take around two work days. Now, since I leveled up my speed, I’m trying to get things done faster, hopefully all within a day or maybe 1.5 a day. That’d be great, I could even get some free time!

Kasaix: Is there a project you'd really like to work on in the future?

Supersatanson: I would really like to take the time to Finish Lust Planet, a hentai platformer flash game I started making with my pal Mattisgames some years ago. It was going nicely, but there was a bunch of IRL stuff happening that heavily reduced my available time, so I had to stop that to focus on illustration only. That’s my biggest burden so far, and I feel guilty every day. I can see the chances for that in the near future though, but wouldn’t want to get people’s hopes up until I can actually deliver an update on it.

Kasaix: Do you have any original characters?

Supersatanson: Yeah, I have a few! The SatanSisters, made them as mascots for Patreon announcements and stuff like that. They’re very simple though, there’s not much backstory for them, just some lore I keep in my mind.

Kasaix: What setup do you use to draw?

Supersatanson: I use Windows 8, HP envy 7 laptop, an ergonomic mouse, and an Intuos Pen small (9 inches) tablet. I draw exclusively on Clip Studio Paint, best drawing software I’ve ever used! I recommend it to everyone I can. I browse on Firefox since Chrome went to shit last year.

Kasaix: Where does your username come from?

Supersatanson: Ah, it has been so long! but I guess I wanted something cartoony (because I liked nintendo style), deviant and mischievous (because at that point I was willing to draw anything for money), but not so much either (just in case); and also always liked alliteration. Therefore, “Super + Satan + Son”. It also sounds pretty nice, at least in Spanish (my native language).

Kasaix: Let’s wrap it up here for now. Do you have any final words to all your fans?

Supersatanson: Only gratitude!. I’m glad they enjoy the tiddy and share it with credits to the author, that’s just the best. Of course some special big thanks to my Patreon Supporters, they helped me grow and it’s thanks to them that I can keep drawing. Their support is the milk that inflates the breasts of porn, or something like that.
