Anime Strike Finally Strikes Out
By ImJustThatKinky • 6 years ago

The badly modeled and hated Anime Strike anime streaming service has finally come to a close. With already having to pay for Amazon Prime, then paying an extra $4.99 a month just for Anime Strike, it seems to be an obvious cash grab. But the good thing for anime fans that have a prime membership, but thought $4.99 a month was too much extra: Amazon has decided to move all Anime Strike anime to prime. So, score one for us.

A spokesperson for Amazon made confirmation that Anime Strike and its sister channel Heera have moved all content to Prime Video.

"We have decided to move the curated catalogs of Anime Strike and Heera into Prime Video so that more customers can enjoy this content as part of their Prime membership," the spokesperson said.

With the end of Anime Strike, let’s count all the 3 strikes Anime Strike made, sending its ass off the field.

1.  The Double Pay Wall

Having to pay an extra $4.99 a month on top of your already prime membership costing $10 a month, it was something that already made people look at the service with a sideways glance.

2. No Alternative Way to Watch Anime and Slow Releases

Unlike its competitors, Funamation and Crunchyroll, who offer the option to watch anime for free with ads enabled, Anime Strike did not provide that. Netflix also does not offer this, but Netflix doesn’t suffer the problem of a double pay wall. And when the anime that you present sometimes aren’t even released on time, it begs the question, “why even try?”

3. Ignoring the Fans

Anime Strike always stated that they wanted to cater to the fans, but sadly, when the fans had a problem with their business model, no responses were heard. They never seemed to really care about the fans. They saw that the niche called anime was picking up steam and wanted to hop on. With a mindset like that, it’s no wonder they failed.
