Eiichiro Oda is a legendary mangaka, creator of the beloved franchise One Piece. During an appearance on Fuji TV’s “Honma Dekka!? TV SP”, Oda mentioned that the manga would extend past 100 volumes by a slight amount before concluding. I could believe this. Unlike Bleach, I don't think One Piece would overstay its welcome. Before I get the hate mail, I loved Bleach. As time and arcs went on, eeehhhh. They didn't even animate the last arc. It felt like they were going for a Dragon Ball Z angle, always a bigger enemy on the horizon, and just couldn't do it. But I digress. Oda dropped a couple of truth bombs on us.

When asked if Luffy’s brother Ace would ever be brought back to life, Oda provided a solid “no” to shoot down any hopes of Ace coming back like Itachi Uchiha in Naruto

When asked if the titular One Piece was something like friendship and family, bonds forged during the adventure, Oda had this to say:

“It is not. I hate that kind of thing. Watching The Wizard of Oz as a child, there was a final outcome, was there not? Adventuring up to this point, if the treasure was as you’ve said… it would be pretty disappointing. I would never have such a story… the characters have been adventuring diligently, so they deserve to be given treasure. I will never accept such a goal.”

Apparently Oda had been considering the ending of his series since his college days. He said that if any of his fans correctly guessed this ending, he would change it as he does not want to align with the expectations of readers.

Until this ending does finally blow us all away, you can check out the great One Piece doujins we have here on the site.
