We Could Have Done Better

(Naruto and Sakura by LadyGT on DeviantArt)

Have you ever finished a hentai manga and felt less than satisfied by the ending? Did it even have an ending? We have all felt that pain. Sure, we enjoyed our time with it, and maybe not everyone reads hentai for the story. However, there are those who, despite being satisfied with the manga, felt the ending could have gone better. Below is a list of some hentai manga that, while good overall, could have had better endings. The list is in no particular order.

Note: If you can't click on the cover, we don't have the book.

5. Monmusu Hentai Appli de GO! | Monster Girl Transformation Go! by Horitomo

The story is simple enough: a boy finds an app on his phone that offers to change anyone he takes a picture of into any type of monster he chooses. At first, he thinks it would just make funny pictures. However, this theory is quickly disproven when his friend is changed into a lamia. Things go from there, and he and the friend make love. It's later discovered that the girl sent him the app in the first place, because she knew he loved monster girls. It ends with her telling him to bang her in every monster girl form.

It ended on a happy note, so why is it here? Because it ended like that. It's a one-shot that could have easily continued with other monster girl forms. Fox girl, cat girl, even dragon girl. It would have been better as multi-chapter story with more transformations. What would be the difference between the chapters, if the premise is the same between them all? Different locations, maybe they nearly get caught once or twice, or maybe the girl changes personality in a couple of the chapters. Maybe she swipes it and changes him into a monster boy. The possibilities are endless, and all are wasted as this is just a one-shot.

4. Ring x Mama 5 by Manabe Jouji

This is a multi-volume story by the legendary Manabe Jouji. It begins with a normal guy enjoying a recorded wrestling match with his idol, a female wrestler. He discovers his landlady is this same wrestler, and his love convinces her to come out of retirement. The volumes chronicle her return to popularity, introduce old and new allies, and even some enemies. It's a great story, overall. The guy has a harem of sorts with strong women, and no one fights over him much if at all.

So why is it on this list? It ends at Ring x Mama 5 at a cliffhanger. There's a match going on between two of the female leads: the landlady and a friend/enemy. There are three chapters in something called Ring x Mama Bangaihen, but they are not translated, so it is not certain if this is resolved in there, or if Bangaihen is simply a reboot of sorts. The ideal ending is for the conflicts to resolve, and the guy strengthens his harem of beautiful fighters.

3. Lingua Franca!! by Akatsuki Myuuto

The story follows two orphans, raised together, finding themselves crash-landed on an island. The boy is quickly found by naked island native women, and is used for sex. The next morning, he is treated much better by the natives and inquires about his childhood friend. The 'slave' girl takes him to the island 'goddess', an alien loli girl in a spaceship. He is once more used for sex, and blackmailed into staying, as the loli girl has his friend.

The 'slave', apparent kin to this alien, breaks the sister out and allows the two to leave. The boy decides not to, and he and the good alien girl turn on the loli alien, taking things over. Things end when the boy, girl, alien girls, and natives are launched into space for years. Things time-skip, and the harem has grown to where even his daughters, as there are only girls, force him into sex. They decide to return to Earth when the ability to having male children is discovered.

Why would this epic tale be on the list? Who would anyone want to return to Earth when they have a harem? They should have found another planet, maybe one full of women, and the boy's sons could have helped them with their own wonderful problem of all women kind.

2. Onnajima - Harem Frontier by Takizawa Naia

This story follows a man who was thrown overboard and finds himself on an island populated by women who have never heard of Japan. Phallic objects, such as what the man has, are considered criminal objects to possess, so he is thrown in jail. While there, he makes friends with the jailer and her sister the warden. He also manages to get a criminal to confess her phallic-use deeds and production.

With this well-known act, a retrial is demanded. In court, he manages to convince a judge of the joys of his phallus, and he is acquitted. He goes to live with the warden and jailer, and finds new clothes. It's here at the end where he learns of the truth of the island: men come to the island via "flying machine" only temporarily. As this is a modern island, the man suspects aliens, and that it is sinister. As out-there as that is, it also ends on a cliffhanger, with the following chapter having nothing to do with the main story.

It's clear why this manga is counted on the list. It's an outlandish cliffhanger ending. Chapters 7 and 8, at least, were released separately from this volume and have not yet been translated. Until then, a better ending will be as such: there can be aliens who periodically come to the island, perhaps to ensure the continuation of the populace, as it takes both men and women to procreate. The alien men find the man who was shipwrecked on the island, decide he can handle their job, and take off, leaving the man having an island harem.

1. Kannaduki no Shimai - Mad Yakuzaishi Sae by Wanyanaguda

This story follows a young girl meeting up with her best friend, classmate, and secret mad scientist. After the scientist experiments on the girl, said girl grows a male appendage. Things escalate from here. It turns out, the scientist is trying to find a cure for her older sister, another scientist who is now mute and home bound. Various experiments are tried throughout the manga, one even changing a couple of the girls into aroused cat girls. However, it ends with that problem solved, and the scientist vowing to outdo a more prominent scientist to cure her older sister.

This doujin is here because of the cliffhanger ending. It should have ended with the cure being found, the scientist and her rival, who had joined her cause previously, being published as geniuses, and the girl and elder sister having further relations. It was clear the elder sister had an attraction to the girl, and I wished it was explored some more.
