Queen of Opala: Hotter than the Egyptian Desserts Interview w/ SweGabe
By ImJustThatKinky • 6 years ago

Kinky: I hope you like good, lengthy, story driven, rpg games with hot sex scene, and I’m not talking about fake sex scene like in The Witcher and Mass Effect. I’m talking about the real show you everything sex scenes, and that’s what you’re getting with Queen of Opala. And I’m here with the person whose bring such a gem, SweGabe. How are you Gabe?

Gabe: I'm doing good Kinky, glad to be here!

Kinky: I read that Queen of Opala started as a hobby. When did that change?

Gabe: When was it, let's see...back in 2014-ish, I think? At the time I was just another unemployed deadbeat and enjoyed working on these games on my spare time, but it slowly and steadily took up more of my time and I realized there weren't enough hours in the day to both make games and search for work. And since the local goverement association (well-fare, social services etc.) that deals with handing out monthly funds to help you pay for food and rent didn't like the idea of me wasting precious time on something I can never earn a living on...I made the call to cut my ties with them and go full-out on game development.

Kinky: Is there any game your particular fond of and is inspiration for Queen of Opala?

Gabe: Hmm...More than anything, I'd say the older hentai animes has been more of an influence, like Himekiski Lilia and Taimanin Asagi. Although more modern games such as Witcher 3 and Skyrim has certainly been sources of insperation too.

Kinky: Do you get burn out from time to time working on the game?

Gabe: Absolutely, you can have really good months when dialogues and story progression just comes flying naturally and you work as fast as you can. But then you also have the bad months when you basically get an "writer's block" and can't figure out how some character should speak or react to events. But even when burned out, you still keep working as there is more to the game than storytelling, such as map making and coloring the in-game trading cards, that doesn't require quite the same level of focus.

Kinky: Has working on the game affect you personal life?

Gabe: Nah, I've always been a shut-in loser.

Kinky: Why did in Queen of Opala 2 you decided to add a western and eastern style of choice. With even a beast man option. Why this choice?

Gabe: Both to offer more choises and to appeal to a wider player base. But also as a sense of safety and security as it would leave the game with a back-up artist, in case of the worst scenario if I'd suddenly lose an artist.

Kinky: Queen of Opala featured scene which were all black but had audio from the ladies performing sex acts. (It was honest my favorite scenes from each of the game and also birth my love for audio porn.) With Queen of Opala: Origin can we expect something like that with even more of the cast?

Gabe: Yes! A lot of gamers thought the audio-only scenes were glitched of faulty and was supposed to have visuals, so I decided if I'd bring something like that back, I'd need to make it more clear. So starting with the release of episode 3 of Legend of Queen Opala: Origin, you can engage in similar scenes, although with added sound effects and pixel animations.

Kinky: With how much you’ve invested time and money in to the game it must have been a lot. Was there any fear when you started investing?

Gabe: It was literally make-or-break when I decided to go full-out developer, I'd either make enough to earn a living or I'd have to quit altogether. I don't think about how much I spend these days as my personal, monthly budget is the same today as it was the first month I began making a living as a development. It's entirely up to my supporters to allow me to flourish or go crashing down, a sentiment the AAA industry has completely forgotten as they take their audience for granted.

Kinky: One of the latest characters you dropped was Van the maybe tomboy, maybe futa, maybe trap character. (As the resident trap lover on this site, I’m hoping for a trap!) If Van turns out to be what I think he/she is, they’ll be outing, Osira, for my favorite character. I said all that just to ask, who is your favorite character and why?

Gabe: At the end of the day, someone will always be disappointed. Its sad but true, you can't please everyone. But I hope the majority will enjoy Van once he/she is fully...exposed! As for my personal favorite character, I'd probably have to say Gabrielle since she is meant to be based on me, although clearly far more exaggerated. I don't drink enough energy drinks to be that hyper. But since she is far more "me" than any other character, it's also a lot easier to write her dialogues and "get into character".

A picture of the drunk and oh so sexy, Gabrielle. Since this character is based on Gabe, the scenes with her may seem extra spicy! O.O

Kinky: Is there a specific fetish that you enjoy?

Gabe: A consistent fetish would be the pairing of large males and small females, off-sized couples/size-queens and the likes.

Kinky: With fan art and comics being made about your series, you can say that it became pretty popular. Did you ever expect it to grow as much as it has?

Gabe: To be fair, chances are good I was the one who paid for those fan arts and comics! I wouldn't go so far as to say my LoQO universe is "that" big, but then again...I don't exactly make games you can proudly tell your friends and family you played and enjoyed.

Kinky: How long do you expect Queen of Opala: Origin to be fully complete?

Gabe: Origin is likely my first game to be 4 episodes in total due to the amount of content it has, so I expect it won't be fully completed until around 2020-2021.

Kinky: Do you think you’ll stick with game design when your done with Queen of Opala: Origin or will you try to explore different things? If the latter, do you have a concept in mind?

Gabe: I would like to try out other game engines. However, that could be a rather lengthy downtime as I need to learn how to work with the engine and stuff like that. I am pretty comfortable with RPG Maker XP, but that's because I've worked with it for over 10 years now. Even if I keep the same XP engine for my next game, it won't be a RPG as I have a little something, far smaller project in mind.

Kinky: Thank you so much for give me this opportunity to speak to you about your game and yourself. Where are some places that people a find you and your game?

Gabe: It's been my pleasure! If people want to check me out or my games, any of the following links should do the trick!
