The simple answer to that is yes. It’s a good thing that anime have become mainstream cause the only reason we’re able to get things like physical light novels, and physical manga releases that are released close to the original Japanese release is because anime and manga have become so mainstream. Hell, that’s the reason we can watch Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man in American movie theaters. But, anime becoming mainstream has caused a lot of drama as per usual with social media.

I promise you a tweet used to be there, but I guess they might have deleted it because of the backlash, or spreading wrong information. But the main point was that a lot of seemingly new anime fans dislike fanservice, and want less of it. Now you might not like these people's opinions, but these small groups of people aren’t going to change the way anime is produced. It becoming mainstream is a good thing, and even though hearing these people complain about fanservice might be annoying, that’s not going to change the overall projection of anime content.

But what is going to change the overall way anime is produced, is by the people who’s watching the anime and supporting it, which, I feel like most of these people don’t do. Like, people complain that we don’t get fanservice in anime anymore when each season, there are always fanservice shows for people to watch. But guess what…THOSE PEOPLE AREN’T WATCHING THEM!!!

So these people complaining and wonder why they see less fanservice in shows. It’s because of them and their own actions. When people are talking about anime nowadays, you’d never see the conversation talking about some ecchi show. It’s usually for shows with good stories, and characters. Which are usually not the ecchi shows. Not saying ecchi shows aren’t good, but as of recent times, no one is really checking them out. So don’t blame the “tourist”, blame yourselves.
