Uzaki-Chan - Still Giving Boners to Blood Doners
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

Everyone knows how important it is to donate blood, but that doesn't mean they're gonna want to do it. Maybe they're afraid of needles and need a little something extra to make them fully change their mind. The Japanese Red Cross Society recognises this and often partners with anime studios to give away posters or clear files featuring certain characters to convince the fans to sign up. And, as always, sex sells. One of the most popular - and most controversial - JRCS collaborations was with the ecchi comedy series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!, where doners were given the optional reward of a clear file depicting the characer Uzaki Hana and her huge rack.

While the promotion encouraged a great deal of otakus to donate blood, including the creator of Uzaki-chan, certain groups of people on the internet decried the scheme for its sexual nature. The JRCS even released a statement acknowledging the debate and said that they'll take people's opinions "into consideration for future activities," leading people to doubt whether the Uzaki-chan promotion will return.

Until the official Uzaki-chan Twitter account tweeted to thank the fans for their support, and to announce a new blood donation campaign. The JMRCS website states that the promotion is also expanding; while the clear files were previously available only in Tokyo, they can now be given out in clinics in Chiba, Kanagawa, Gunma, Saitama, Ibaraki and Tochigi, which goes to show how popular the scheme is.

The new clear file hasn't been shown yet, but people are already restarting the arguments on Twitter. What do you think of this? Should the Japanese Red Cross Soceity have listened to the people and pulled the partnership? Or should they be commended for sticking to their guns? Let us know in the comments!
