Among Us Gets Its Own One-Shot Manga
By WakeUpSnooze • 2 years ago

Some very sus news dropped the other day ladies and gentlemen. In an unanticipated turn of events, the popular social deduction game Among Us has collaborated with Bessatsu Corocoro, in order to release a one-shot manga. For more context, Bessatsu Corocoro is a Japanese magazine who targets younger boys as their main audience. I have to say, good call on that one. Additionally, a one-shot manga is a single work that completes its entire story in one piece, usually around 15-60 pages. However, many popular manga started as one-shots to gauge popularity and then later became full-fledged series including Dragon Ball, Death Note, Bleach, and more. The manga is scheduled to release later this spring in April. With the infodump out of the way, I have a question.

Me and the boys reading some manga.

Does like…anyone care? Don’t get me wrong, Among Us was an international, global sensation when it became a trend in the fall of 2020. But it’s 2022 now. I haven’t seen anyone playing or streaming Among Us for months. Outside of the hardcore audience I don’t know who is still interested in Among Us content. Hell even with kids, I’m not sure if they still play it often or not. And I don’t exactly know any kids I could dial up and ask either so that question is likely to stay unanswered for me. To me this seems like a SUPER late attempt to try and catch a trend. Don’t get me wrong, when there’s a trend there will always be people looking for ways to expand said trend to a multitude of industries to make money and I don’t think that’s an inherently bad strategy, but when you do it so late it comes off to me as desperate. BUT hey, I can only speak as a graduated man from the West so I’m not familiar with what the younger target audience is doing nowadays, and I’m definitely not familiar with what the younger Japanese target audience is doing.

Normally with news like this even if I don’t care that a series is getting some sort of advancement or installment, I’m happy because that means there might be a rejuvenated interest in the porn of said series. Sadly I don’t give a fuck about Among Us porn so even if there is, it wouldn’t be of much use to me. Sucks to suck I suppose. What do you think about this collaboration? Is it a cool idea or a late cop out? Avoid detection, lie to your friends, and share your thought sin the comments below!
