Kasaix: Greetings people of Doujins! Allow me to introduce an incredibly talented artist and animator, Derpixon! I've followed this fine artist for quite some time, and finally got a chance to talk one on one. Thank you for the opportunity, Derpixon. How are you doing today?
Derpixon: Hey y'all! I'm doing great
Kasaix: That's great to hear!
Given your thousands of followers on Hentai Foundry, and the active chat on Picarto, your art skills aren't in doubt. How did you come to get as good as you are as an artist?
Derpixon: I usually try to study other existing animations frame by frame to get a feel of how they operate, including lewd animations! I can also say that porn videos helped me alot with figuring out poses, anatomy and most importantly, the motion. I'm used to studying these online references because of the accessibility and convenience it has since I never had an experience with an art school before. Some people do say that my art has been improving every time and I do believe them in a way! I really got more serious with improving my skills when I started my NSFW art journey so I'm very thankful for that.
Kasaix: Studying the masters is a tried and true way to get better.
What first piqued your interest in art?
Derpixon: Oh! I always loved to draw ever since I was little. My interest generally lies on monster designs, pin-ups and cool fantasy-related things! Video games played a huge role in sparking my interest to just admire these designs and to make my own creative work based on that interest. So when I found out about art books that focused on the actual concept art and stuff like that, man that spark just kept on burning.
Kasaix: A childhood passion turned profession, that's the dream many aspire to.
What's your favorite art project, something you would show to someone as a first impression?
Derpixon: Oh ummm, NSFW or SFW? XD
Kasaix: Either really, just something you feel is your best work.
Derpixon: I do wish I could show my fave SFW artwork but I'd like to keep that account separate from Derpixon. As for NSFW, this has got to be one of those projects that has a special history with my career.
It's entitled "Dinner Wieners", and it basically has this theme of Ignore/Casual/Multitask sex (whichever you wanna call it). Its one of the things that I genuinely enjoy making because of the funny and bizarre concept it has when it comes porn. What makes this piece also special is that it gave me a lot of exposure to the public and it made people more interested in this kind of thing which I also like! So its a true win-win artwork for me.
Kasaix: I know this one well, I've gone back to it many times. It's also one of the first I've seen. I remember reading comments saying that 'ignore' should be a tag because of it. Honestly it's become a new fetish of mine because of this GIF.
Derpixon: Haha yes! I do feel like this is one of those "guilty pleasure" fetishes that most people have and there just needs to be more of it.
Kasaix: You're doing Hentai God's work.
Your mascot character's name is Pixen, right? A fun, bubbly girl with an incredible appetite for food and love, and the ability to teleport and arouse people with said teleporting. Can you tell us a bit about her, such as where you got the idea for her?
Derpixon: Oh my, yes Pixen is the main face of Derpixon! Her design was based on cupcakes because of the sweet looking colors and the "ball" on the tip of her hoodie which kind of represents the cherry on top of a cupcake. She wears a hoodie because....well I love hoodies! Originally, her name was supposed to be "Cupcake" (original, right?) but then I noticed so many OCs named like that so I just made something close to my name instead.
For her personality, I always wanted a character that's full of enthusiasm and curiosity. Pixen has always been about fun, comedy, and adventure. Her teleportation powers is something that I feel would really help her achieve those thrill-seeking moments. Pixen's comedic tendencies is a representation of how I want my works to be treated like. It should be light, funny, and not taken seriously. Her eating habits? Oh man I dunno where that came from she is a living black hole of gluttony I tell ya. Hopefully I can add more friends for her in the future!

Kasaix: I likened her appetite to a Saiyan from Dragon Ball Z.
Derpixon: Indeed, a certain Pink character too!
Kasaix: Buu. I feel like if Pixen teamed up with Majin Buu, things would get chaotically fun in no time at all.
You mentioned that you prefer your work to be light-hearted and fun, a preference I share.
Can you discuss your thought process as you work on a project?
Derpixon: THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING FUN ABOUT IT (Pardon my all caps). That's my main rule. Although sometimes you really can't think of a light-hearted element to go with the project, I'd like to slide in comedy as much as possible without overdoing it. It can be a bad pun or a cute moment or a hentai trope reference or just pure stupidity. It feels really uncomfortable for me to make something that is too serious with no happy endings or a silver lining so I try to avoid doing that. I always feel like porn should not be taken seriously because its another form of entertainment so obviously its main purpose is to be consumed to make one feel good.
Kasaix: The truth has been spoken.
Derpixon: Oh god haha
Kasaix: How do you come up with ideas for a project?
Derpixon: Hmmm. I'd say that the majority of my inspiration for ideas come from Japanese Adult Videos (JAVs) and just hentai in general. If you have seen those "interesting" JAVs before, oh man your eyes have already opened to humanity's transcendence in its entire history. As for my work, It is mostly me developing on an existing idea and putting a little twist here and there. I believe that making something familiar to people while also giving a little something new is a good starting point for coming up with an idea. It doesn't have to be super complex either, it just has to be executed well.
Kasaix: Ah interesting. Finding ideas can be hard enough, actually executing them, and well at that, is an entirely different challenge.
What is a dream project of yours, something you feel you must absolutely do?
Derpixon: OH BOI
WHERE DO I START? XD
Kasaix: This should be good
Derpixon: I have this list of things that I still wanna do like Time Stop, Stuck in Wall, InstantLoss2Koma, Evil Systems, more Ignore sex, more Hypnotism, more crazy sex machines, creative "aesthetic" porn, a big project on a "certain popular videogame", etc! I don't wanna go into too much detail with those things because that's a secret already. :>
Collaboration with other lewd artists/animators is something I'm looking forward to when I want to take a break from my own stuff. cough cough hit me up hentai senpai
Making a series sounds exciting too Adventures of Pixen, perhaps? Or a Pixen game? There's so many ideas that are possible and there's no time to waste! Just thinking about these things gets me pumped up. Hopefully I can finish them all and blitz through this list!
