D&D Isn't Just For Nerds Anymore? Critical Role Is Cool?!
By ImJustThatKinky • 7 months ago

Now I’m okay with being an anime nerd, but a D&D nerd? Now that’s going too far. You can’t get more nerdier than D&D. Those are the kind of nerds who get shoved into lockers.

Well, until now. Because even though D&D is still considered super nerdy, it’s gotten cooler and more accepted thanks to a really successful and popular series, Critical Role.

I’ve seen this series around and I’ve always been curious about it. I also help that many of the people who are involve are video game and anime voice actors from series like Fire Emblem, PersonaFinal Fantasy, and Jujutsu Kaisen, just to name a few. I’ve always thought that D&D looked interesting, and could be a very enjoyable experience, but I also know it’s a big investment if you want to do it right. Hell, episodes of Critical Role usually are around 3 to 4 hours, showing you how long this game can actually last.

I still haven’t checked out Critical Role, just because the time on the videos are so damn intimidating, and I’m still wondering what’s the appeal of it. From my lack of knowledge, Critical Role is seen as just a big D&D podcast which people usually just have in the background to listen to while they’re doing other stuff. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s just the vibe I’m getting.

I do want to check it out, even if I never try out D&D actually, just to see why a super nerdy series like Critical Role is getting over 5 million plus views. The age of the nerds is now.

Have you played D&D before? Have you watched Critical Role? Is D&D too much of an investment for you? Tell us in the comments.
