Demon Slayer Movie Slays Records
By WakeUpSnooze • 3 years ago

Behold, an article written out of pure spite. Well not exactly but god damn I’d be lying if I didn’t mention that I’m sour as fuck that Japan is already popping off having a good time with the movie while us Americans are going to have to wait. Originally we were going to be able to watch the movie around this time too but now it’s been moved to 2021. I planned to go see this movie in theaters with the boys considering Demon Slayer’s huge impact with the beautiful first season, but that may be cancelled. It might be every man for himself at this point I’m afraid.

Onto the records. This shit broke a record on its first day out, now becoming Japan’s highest weekday opening ever. The hype continued into the following weekend, becoming Japan’s highest weekend opening ever too. In the timespan of three days it earned around $43 million fat ones. For comparison Your Name earned $12 million in its first three days. See I know why too, they were handing out Rengoku Volume 0, a little manga detailing his first mission, to people who went to see the movie as a bonus.

All sadness aside, I am happy to see people are giving the series attention and that it’s performing so well. I’m honestly a bit surprised, I suppose I underestimated the anime’s popularity. They put the fucking work in animating the first season though and I suspect that continued into the movie, and will continue into the second season (give it to me you fucks!). We may have to wait a bit longer but you bet your ass I’m peeping this film out at my first opportunity.
