Well this is one of those articles that I never anticipated writing. You may have read the title and asked “wha?” and that’s a very good question in this case. You see recently Japanese Vtuber group Sinsogumi took it upon themselves to spice up their latest batch of streams by creating a little game with some friendly competition. I’ve heard multiple different versions of how exactly it was done on the technology side of things so don’t take my exact word for it. To my understanding, the game was actually quite ingenious in terms of design. Basically all participating Vtubers would turn the enemy’s ink setting close to that of a green screen, and then play lewd adult videos on the ink. Therefore the goal was to do as well as possible at removing enemy ink as otherwise too much ink would collect on your screen thus revealing the porn and causing the ban hammer to come hurling down any second. As you can imagine, Nintendo “Mr. Keep Smash Non-Competitive For The Kids” himself, did not take too kindly to seeing their widely popular property be associated with a porn challenge. They tweeted out some warnings reminding users to follow their guidelines shortly after the event picked up steam. At the time of writing it’s unclear whether the bans were encouraged by Nintendo or if YouTube took it upon themselves, but either way Ikinone Tomeru’s (the leader) and Kikaze Kimono’s accounts were terminated and are no longer available. Apparently Tomeru posted an apology video, however did so while wearing a virtual dinosaur outfit so it was unclear how serious it was. I’ve never heard about this group before, so I can only wonder if they’re going to continue activities now on a different platform or what. I assume none of the members who participated really planned on becoming huge YouTubers in the first place if they knew the risks and still undertook this challenge.

Ah, this reminds me of the time our Doujins account got banned from YouTube while displaying just about zero explicit sexual content. Good times. Considering the popularity of this ordeal, I wonder if other groups are considering doing anything similar. I’d doubt it though, knowing Nintendo if this keeps up I wouldn’t be surprised to see them directly suing some streamers for thousands upon thousands of dollars for ruining their image. Still, it’s nice to know there are still some brave souls out there willing to put everything on the line for a high stakes game where the points are made up and the subscribers don’t matter.
