Who Actually Wants To Learn The Violin?
By ImJustThatKinky • 10 months ago

Checking out the anime this season, one of them I decided to pick up (but wasn’t able to keep up with), The Blue Orchestra, was good for what it was. Definitely not the best of this season, but enjoyable from what I saw. I enjoy my music shows, so it caught my interest. But while watching it, and watching the characters be so passionate about playing the violin, I started thinking. How many people are really inspired to play the violin?

Wait, if playing the violin will get me closer to girls. Then sign me up baby.

Like, maybe it’s just because I’m an uncultured piece of shit, but it’s not like piano or violin music really hit me or spoke to my soul like these characters act like it does in these kinds of shows. The only reason I listen to Beethoven is because they forced me in school, not because it was a banger. And all the kids I know who went to band class to play the violin or trumpets, didn’t really seem to do anything with it once they got out. So it feels like they did it more so because it was an extra activity that sounded better than school work.

They all didn't want to do school work.

But I feel like one of my problems is that I’m having a close minded view of the subject. I’m only thinking about things like Beethoven and all those violin and piano only classics. More modern songs still use instruments like that. Coldplay - Viva La Vida is a classic that I’m sure Beethoven would have been proud of and banged to.

Maybe I’ve just forgotten about some of the classics that actually hit and are bussin. If you guys have some suggestions and some classical music that you really like, let me know. Help a homie become more cultured.

Would you play the violin? Do you like classical music? Did you watch The Blue Orchestra? Tell us in the comments.
