Demon Slayer Is Getting The Movie Treatment
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

It's hard to believe that the anime Demon Slayer (or Kimetsu no Yaiba if you think the painfully generic English name doesn't do it justice) is under half a year old. Since its debut it's rapidly become one of the most popular recent shonen series, no doubt thanks to its fluid animation, great characters, fresh takes on familiar tropes, and the most adorable girl of the season. The first season recently ended, and fans who want more of Tanjiro, Nezuko & Co's adventures will be pleased to find out the series will be coming back in a big way.

The 26th and last episode of the anime concluded the Recovery Training Arc, where the heroes master ultimate techniques under the powerful demon-slaying hashiras, before being called up to their next mission. Ufotable have confirmed the next arc, which follows Tanjiro, Zenitsu & Inosuke as they undergo a demon-infested train journey alongside the flame hashira Kyoujoro Rengoku, will be adapted into an anime movie instead of continuing in the next season. It's been confirmed that Haruo Sotozaki and Akira Matsushima will be returning as the director and character designer respectively, but otherwise not much has been revealed yet, apart from this PV featuring Rengoku looking hot AF:

It's less time consuming to make a single movie than a full season of anime, so while there's no release date just yet it'll probably be released sooner than it would if it were the next season of the show. Of course, a season can cover a lot more story than a movie, but I'm sure a bumped up animation budget plus the all killer no filler approach that makes Demon Slayer so strong will make for a pretty lit movie.

What did you think of the first season of Demon Slayer? Are you excited for the upcoming arc? Is Nezuko still best girl? Let us know in the comments!
