Godzilla & Evangelion Clash in 4D
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

One is a metaphor for nuclear weapons in post-WW2 Japan and the other is a demonstration on how deep mental illness can get when the entire world is depending on you. And also fights with giant monsters sometimes. It's only natural that the two would cross over eventually, right?

To commemorate the awesome new movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Universal Studios Japan are launching a new attraction named "Godzilla Vs. Evangelion: The Real 4D" at their theme park in Osaka, showing the iconic mechas that aren't really mechas facing off against the King of the Monsters himself. It's not clear what the attraction will be exactly, it could be a themed ride or just a movie in a 4D theater, but it sounds cool nonetheless. Check out the PV below.

This isn't the first time the two have crossed paths: there was a line of crossover figures released a few years ago showing Gojira cosplaying as various Eva units, and the two are featured in the Japan-only PS4 game City Shrouded in Shadows. It's also worth mentioning that NGE creator Hideaki Anno directed 2016's Shin Godzilla which brought the big boi back to his roots: stomping around Tokyo. Seeing how (literally) massive Godzilla is around the world and Evangelion is getting a worlwide release on Netflix soon one can only hope Universal will somehow release this 4D crossover outside of Japan someday.
