In case you haven’t noticed, A.I. is starting to take over the entire creative landscape. From 2D art to voice acting, it seems like every creative faucet is being threatened as new capabilities are added to A.I.’s ability pool every week. Other technologies such as deepfaking are no exception,and this week a deepfake A.I. made the news for all the wrong reasons. A.I. is gearing up to open a damn Pandora’s Extra Large Chest in the world of sex content creation, and things came to a head this week when streamer Atrioc accidentally exposed himself for watching deepfaked porn. But what’s the problem? Uh, well, the deepfakes were of his fellow streamers.
Deepfaking is already on the more risky side of ideas in terms of combining porn and A.I. for obvious reasons, but this incident put it under the spotlight in just how weird it can be. Throw a celebrity's face and general body type into the A.I. generator and boom baby, with a bit of training you’ll be able to watch the latest sex icon of Hollywood have, well, literal sex whether they want to be portrayed that way or not. Hell why stop there? That sexy professor you always had a crush on? Why not deepfake their likeness onto a hot body and have a long night of fapping? Well, because it’s a pretty weird thing to do. My views on sex have always been that as long as it’s not affecting real people anything goes (you may notice we got some wild doujins on this site, and I approve cause it’s all fantasy). When real people are involved, then anything can go as long as all those involved consent to it. But with deepfaking tech, hell someone can refuse wanting to be sexualized all they want but if their face has some images/videos online, they could be fucked.
If only we had some sort of warning about the dangers of utilizing young technology when we don't fully understand its effect on us.
In response to the madness, the original A.I. “artist” that was creating these deepfake porn videos have suspended their page and taken down videos that were depicting streamers in lewd settings for fear of retaliation lawsuits. Atrioc did an apology stream (with his wife) that is very awkward to watch and honestly a bit soul crushing. It’s one thing to watch deepfake porn, it’s another to watch deepfake porn of people you’ve interacted with before and share the same industry that you do. Now it should be noted that in the apology, Atrioc states that he was more so looking at it out of curiosity, to see what’s actually possible, rather than to fap to it and blast off. He doesn’t advocate for it, or think that it's okay to view. After all, all that happened was that people saw he had it open in a tab so we’ll never know if he was busting or if curiosity took over and he took a mere peep. So in his defense, that should be made clear. On the other hand it appears he had to PAY to access the deepfake photos and videos, and while streamers are ridiculously rich at the top, I do have to question whether I could commit to spending money on porn “just to see what it’s like”. However I’m not rich and probably never will be, so who knows.

Where do we go from here? It’s hard to say. We are on the verge of living through another historical time period (hopefully not as shitty as COVID) as A.I. have become mainstream and interest is at an all time high. Innovation will never stop, but it’s clear with incidents like this that legislators are going to have to scramble soon and figure out how to control these powerful tools. I’m all for A.I. making sex content creation a more seamless process, but we need to be wary of how this tech could be abused and hurt real people.
