The Rumbling Heads To Fortnite As Anime Collabs Stay On Top
By WakeUpSnooze • 1 year ago

The gargantuan battle royale has been on a tear lately with anime collaborations. Hell I guess the entire industry is becoming enthralled with the lucrative power of opening up anime fans’ wallets if the latest Overwatch 2 crossover is anything to go by. Regardless, Fortnite remains the king of anime collabs at the moment in terms of sheer numbers and actual gameplay additions. Look no further than the latest My Hero Academia collaboration which brought Deku’s dumbass smash to the game and dominated the meta for several months now. I have to say, I’m happy to see it gone and see what new overpowered anime weapons/abilities they will add to wreck my ass with the new Attack on Titan partnership. In a recent trailer, they showed off what’s in store for the next season and you can see an Eren Jaeger skin being used on a character while zooming around on some ODM gear.

Personally the trailer got me pretty hype. Since the core gameplay of Fortnite is free, I’m always down to check out the latest updates with my friend. Especially in this age of anime events. As someone who played the game a fair bit when the Spider-Man update was in use, I can say that zooming around on a string on the wide open landscapes of the world is pretty damn fun. That being said the ODM gear looks set to capture that magic all over again while perhaps adding the ability to attack your opponent while doing so. God only knows what it will mean for the shitty meta of this game, but hey baby that’s just the joy of adding so much wild shit into a battle royale. You don’t need to keep it super serious when two-thirds of the playerbase is little kids and the other third is a group of sweatys who don’t realize Fortnite is not exactly being included in the lineup for “competitive shooters” competitions.

Attack on Titan is all the rage right now considering the release of The Final Season, so props to the marketing team for striking while the iron is hot. Are you watching AoT? Will you try out this update to fly around on some ODM gear? Are anime-related collabs going to be the new standard for skins in free-to-play battle pass games?
