Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Set Sail To Plunder Pirate Booty

I’m a bit late to write about this news as it’s already been a bit more than a week since it was announced. At first I didn’t plan to cover it, but after taking a step back and thinking about how big Crunchyroll has been affecting the anime world lately with their crazy Webtoon partnership, I thought it was only fitting to talk about their new co-production with Adult Swim and I.G., Fena: Pirate Princess, which was a surprise announcement for fans at… Adult Swim Con. Apparently that’s a thing? You can watch the trailer below to get an idea of what the anime will be.

Here’s a rundown of the plot:

“Fena: Pirate Princess is a 12 episode original anime series that tells the tale of a young orphan girl, Fena Houtman. Fena has been raised on an Island where there is no hope of becoming anything more than chattel, to be used and discarded by soldiers of the British Empire.

But Fena is more than just another powerless orphan. When her mysterious past comes knocking, Fena will break the chains of her oppressors. Her goal: forge a new identity, free of bondage, and search for a place where she can truly belong and find out the true mysteries behind a keyword 'Eden.' It is the story of a lifetime adventure she and her crew of misfits and unlikely allies will have, in pursuit of her goals!"

Gotta be honest here, I’m hyped because I’m a pirate whore. Growing up I loved the Pirates of the Carribean movies and would rewatch all the sword fights over and over and over again. Jack Sparrow was my icon which was not a good look because imitating him made me seem like a gay kid which didn’t exactly help me get girls. Anyway, I fell out of love with that series after the fourth movie came out and as much as I fucking try I can’t get into One Piece. The artstyle and the GIGANTIC amount of content that I’d have to watch to get caught up turn me off anytime I debate trying it out. There’s very few anime about pirates so this may be hype as fuck for anyone out there who likes them but hasn’t seen One Piece like myself. Plus with the [adult swim] label I’m expecting to see some more, well, adult themes and scenes rather than some 4Kids shit. Crossing my fingers this tale is as gritty as the plot description. Also… a little hot pirate sex wouldn’t hurt… plz and ty.
