I’ve been playing Genshin Impact and haven’t spent a dime on it yet. And even without spending any money on it, I’m having fun. There’s really no need to spend money in this game to progress or to have fun. So now I’m wondering, why do people hate the Genshin Impact gacha system so much? 

The game gives you characters as you play the game. You have a complete party of four with Aether, Lisa, Kaeya, and Amber. When you first play the game, they give you wishes so you can gamble in the gacha a little bit. And even after that, just playing through the game gives you more materials call primogem, so you can gamble in the gacha even more. Sure if you wanted to invest into the gacha with real money it’ll cost you around $30 to do a decent 10 wish roll, and you might not get a 5 star, but it’s not like anyone is forcing you to do it.

You can play the game comfortably without spending any money. So why are people so heated about the gacha? It sounds like people are greedy, and have no self control. I will admit, I look at the roster of characters and think to myself, “I like to catch them all.”, but I don’t have to. I could just play the game and enjoy it. It’s just that knowing I could get more characters if I just gamble a little makes me want to spend money. It’s not the fact that I have to, to have fun. It’s just the fact that I can.

I hate a gacha system when that’s the only true way to experience that game. When not using the gacha traps you, or keeps you from being able to progress further. This gacha doesn’t do that. So to me, I don’t hate the gacha system. I understand that it’s their way of making money. They already gave you a free, fun game. And the ability to gain the gambling material without spending a dime. Now they leave the choice up to you if you want to spend the money or not. The choice is yours, not theirs.
