Melty Blood: Type Lumina will be upon us this month, and more and more characters are being released. Most characters that have been shown have stayed true to their original design. Shiki still looks like the glasses wearing school boy we know and love. Ciel is still a knife-carrying nun, with short, blue hair. And the maids are still...maids. But one person who didn’t stay the same in the transition to Type Lumina, is Melty Blood and Tsukihime leading lady, Arcueid. Or should I say, leading girl now.

Some fans are not happy about Arcueid's new design. Arcueid used to have that grandma fit, but now she looks like a young girl who’s hip with the kids. Arcueid used to wear a white sweater turtleneck with a long purple dress. Now, she wears a tight fitted white sweater, necklace, skirt, with thigh high black stockings, and boots. Now if  that’s not young and hip, then I don’t know what is.

Now for me, the new design doesn’t really affect me that much. Hell, I didn’t even notice it until I saw people pointing it out. But, it could be even deeper than just the way she looks. Sometimes a way a character dresses tells alot about her character, and maybe this change has an effect on her overall character. I’m not sure, but at the end of the day. Whether it’s grandma Arcueid or young Arcueid, I would still smash.
