Tracing Over Original Hentai for Money
By ImJustThatKinky • 4 years ago

Now look, we all trace over pictures that we liked as a kid. As a starting artist, tracing seems like the first thing you’d do. But once you grow up and get serious with art, you learn that tracing isn’t enough and start drawing your own original pieces. But sometimes, tracing over something is way easier than making something original. Which hey, you can do that if you want to, but when you’re trying to sell something that you just traced, now that’s when people are going to have a problem. And that’s what “artist” OcarinaOTW, soon found out, when it was discovered that his Lucoa animation was a trace off of the hentai Victorian Maid Maria no Houshi doggy style scene.

A 3D animator by the name of Nobu, made a tweet calling Ocarina out for his tracing and selling said piece of Gumroad for a profit. Ocarina is selling this traced animation on Gumroad for $7, and that’s truly what’s rubbing people the wrong way.

Ocarina tried to save face by posting a link to the hentai and saying that the animation was based off said hentai, but it was kind of too late for that.

I feel like if Ocarina wasn’t selling the animation for a profit, people wouldn’t be so up in arms about this. But hey, we’ll see how all this turns out. Will this be the end of his career, or just something that blows over in just a few days.

Have you ever traced before? Is it shitty to try and sell traced art? Do you think Ocarina’s career is over? Tell us in the comments.
